Our partner in occupational health - the “RPP Zentrum Oberberg” - who has served as our “STARK” gym partner for the last one and a half years drew our attention to 15-year-old Nico, who suffers from muscular dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy is also popularly known as muscle wastage where all muscles slowly turn to fat. Muscular dystrophy is a genetic defect that continues to develop and unfortunately does not improve.
Nico's family needed a new wheelchair accessible bus in order for Nico to remain mobile. To make this a reality, the Ursula Barth Foundation and the "Helping Hands Oberberg" supported Nico with a crowdfunding project; they needed € 10,000 to be able to afford the new bus.
Being made aware of the this the “RPP Zentrum Oberberg” thought it would be a good idea to provide members of HF with free treatments in exchange for a donation towards Nico’s new bus. However the HF team in Freudenberg thought that they could take things a little further! Instead of taking part instead of just donating smaller amounts of money, they collectively decided to offer a large sum from their aptly named “Joy and sorrow fund” which employees pay into monthly. The kind gesture of the staff was picked up by the HF management and they kindly decided to double the donations of its employees.
